IGNORANT, INNOCENT OR SIMPLY JURY-READY?

I never saw a Michael Jackson video. Only the bits they've played on the radio made me confident I'd heard him sing.

I've never seen Jennifer Aniston in anything. Or Angelina Jolie. Or Katie Holmes. Or Brad Pitt.

I never have seen Friends.

I never saw the planes hit the towers. Or any other visual from 9-11.

I never saw the Rodney King video.

I've never seen Spongebob, though we did have a Spongebob bowl.

I never saw a Little House on the Prairie episode, though I have read all of the books at least twenty times.

I never saw a Star Trek episode.

I wonder if anyone will still be my friend when they know how radically weird I really am.

Wish I could say the same for Michelle Jackson. I could do without his antics. I do feel bad for the guy, though. He's a classic case of too much fame, too much fortune, too much everything - except the actual help he needed to manage his life and heal from whatever demons were besetting his life. I saw about 3 minutes of "Friends" once and that was enough for me. I've never seen SpongeBob either, don't know who Rodney King is, don't care about the others - I'm sure their personal lives are a mess anyway. Star Trek - well, it can be addictive, but my addictions to it have never lasted tremedously long, and Little House - I don't even know what to say about that one. I've probably seen every episode at least 3 or 4 times...and now it's one of my kids' favorites as well.

You are not missing much my friend! I'm sure your life is just as sweet without all these things.

As they say, "Weird is wonderful"!

ignorance is bliss - you listed all things that can be done without - although I will say I like Little House - and star trek is kind of fun .. .

It's OK...we can still be friends. I haven't seen a lot of the same things.

I'm still your friend but wondering where you were to not see any of them. My daughter grew up on Little House and watched the show even as a teenager.

I never watched Sponge Bob or Star Trek as they aren't my "thing".

I saw so much of the 9/11 coverage.

I agree with Katherine. I dont really watch much tv. We do keep up with the news. I loved Little House on the Prarie. Almost as good as the books.
We were in Greece on 9/11 and it was impossible to miss the headlines. It was blasting from everywhere!!

Jury ready! lol.

(But we can still be friends - even though I've done ALL those things.)

I am a bit surprised you never saw Little House though! That was a huge part of my childhood! (So was Michael Jackson, though. My friends and I used to practice our moon walk at recess, then we went home and watched Little House reruns, so what do I know...)

I'm actually, all the more impressed!
Gregg's family sat around and read Little House together..We just watched it..and yes, I grew up with Michael Jackson..practicing all the moves. Couldn't miss 9/11 as all the TV's at the nursing home had it on; we were glued.
Again, all the more impressed (and you've already made quite an impression on me).

I have seen Friends and LHOP. Seriously, they did a great job with it--especially the first two seasons. Watch the pilot and see. (I'm talking aobut Little House... not Friends).

Really. It won't mess up the pictures in your head. I'd read it before I saw it.

Kate - it is almost more PERSONAL than that. I LIVED those books. When we visited DeSmet it was like a pilgrimage.

Annie, I don't think the show is at all like the books. I am halfway through reading The Long Winter right now (reading them in order to the boys) and we are in season two of the show. I love the show but view it as a separate entity altogether.
I like to think that I live in my own little world and think it is great to avoid all those outside things, especially the awful ones like sponge bob. I haven't seen more than a blip of the show, but am so repulsed by it. Somehow Keats decided that he liked Sponge Bob (I think he saw an episode years ago at my parents' house) and then we got this box of hand me downs and before I could intervene he had grabbed up a pair of sponge bob swim shorts. I would have given them away if I had seen them first. Now he wears them to the pool to my horror.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. While some of this things are big part of US culture there are plenty of people, who never saw them or even heard of them.
